Ten Rules For Better Digestion
1. Chew food to a liquid coinsistency before swallowing to ensure saturating the food well with saliva which contains important digestive enzymes.
2. Never drink large amounts of liquid with solid food; this will dilute digestive juices which in turn slows digestion. Sips of purified or distilled water are best throughout the meal.
3. Never drink sweet liquids such as fruit juice or soda at a meal. Sweet substances will ferment the food you eat, especially in your intestines and will cause belching, gas and flatulence.
4.. Never eat when angry. Calm yourself before beginning your meal and be sure to observe the color, texture and aroma of the food before taking the first bite. This observation will introduce necessary digestive fluids and enzymes into the mouth and stomach to prepare for the digestive process. A happy and calm being improves digestion.
5. Never consume heavy animal protein foods (i.e. beef, dairy, poultry) at the same meal with starch foods (i.e. potato, squash) Starch foods are easily converted to sugars that will ferment the animal protein and cause putrefaction in the bowels.
6. Do not consume more than 4 ounces per day of animal protein. Too much animal protein produces uric acid which overloads the kidneys and may lead to arthritis, especially gout.
7. Fruit should be consumed at least 1/2 hour before or 4 hours after consuming other food so as not to cause fermentation. Excessive quanties of fruit and sweets in general are known to weaken the immune system by increasing fungal levels in the body (see rule # 10). Citrus fruit should be avoided if suffering from GERD. Sweet desserts and anything containing any type of sugar should be limited and never consumed after a meal. Try having your dessert as a treat between meals -- (2 hours before or 4 hours after a meal).
8. Never eat when very tired or mentally or physically fatigued. Never eat within three hours of bedtime.
9. Never overeat. Overeating will make your heart pump harder and your stomach will be over worked in attempting to digest the excess food which will not be digested properly and therefore not made available to your bloodstream in molecules small enough for proper assimilation. When food is not broken down to small enough molecules, the large food molecules may develop an eventual sensitivity to that particular food. Try to gain stronger will power by saying no to the next bite that will make you feel "full".
10. Organic, dark, green , leafy salads are a must each day for their abundant enzymes, fiber and chlorophyll cleansing, as well as oxygen and hemoglobin building qualities. Dark greens that are grown in areas with electrical high power lines have an affinity for the strontium that is absorbed into the plants and may lead to cancer when accumulated in the body over time. Non organic vegetables containing sprays of herbicides, pesticides and fungicides will also contibute to the toxification and disease of the body.
Explanation of Foods to Avoid
Beef & Cow's Dairy Products:
Non organic beef and cow's dairy contain hormones and steroids to increase size and speed of growth of cattle. These injected hormones cause imbalanced hormonal levels with human ingestion of the beef and cow's dairy. Steroids are known to lower immunity. Antibiotics are injected into cows to attempt in the prevention of disease in these animals. Antibiotics are designed to kill bacteria -- but what about viruses that circulate in the cows? These enter your body too. When you ingest these food products, you are also ingesting the antibiotics that increase the Candida albicans yeast levels in your body. Chemicals and coloring agents are are added to the meat to to enhance its appealing color for a "fresh look" and to increase its shelf life. Cow's dairy products are known to contain the enzyme xanthine oxidase which has been scientifically studied and found to cause the initiation of vascular sticky plaque buildup and artherosclerosis. Cow’s dairy is high in phosphorus which may cause leaching of calcium out of bones.
Caffeine Products (Coffee, Cocoa, Chocolate, Cola):
May cause hypoglycemia by its continual quick raising and then quick dropping of blood sugar within approximately 20 minutes after caffeine consumption. May leach calcium from bones which may lead to Osteoporosis. May contribute to free flowing calcium in the blood stream that finds its way into joints causing arthritic effects as well as floaters or flashers in the eyes (other circulating toxins may also be the cause of floaters/flashers).
MSG:
May cause food sensitivities, headaches, the development of disease and serious neurological disorders.
Peanuts/Peanut Butter:
May contain afflatoxin mold, a common carcinogen. May also cause jaundice, cirrhosis. May be hidden in ingredients of some packaged foods.
Refined Oils:
Are heated producing trans fatty acids. Trans fatty acids consumption is not recommended since they cause damage to the body at the cellular level. Refined oils lose their natural taste and vital nutrition.
Refined White & Brown Sugar, Artificial Sweeteners and Refined, White Flour Products:
Increases predisposition to dental cavaties and produces a sticky plaque not only on the teeth but on the intestinal wall which inhibits proper assimilation and absorption of nutrients. Note: Brown sugar is white sugar with molasses added. These products may cause diabetes with their continued over consumption. The bleaching agents in these products may leach calcium from the bones, causing Osteoporosis and are toxic to the liver. Artificial sweeteners are known carcinogens.
Soda & Other Carbonated Beverages:
Leaches beneficial oxygen out of the body. Oxygen is needed to sustain life within the cells and tissues of the body and of course for the body itself. Contributes to upset digestion, abdominal gas, bloating and flatulence.
White Rice:
Is missing the hull that contains the beneficial nutrients.Bleaching agents used are toxic to the liver and may draw calcium out of the bones.
Yeast & Sourdough Products:
Aggravate the body's normal intestinal flora and contribute to the related Candida albicans fungal overgrowth.Candida albicans is known to cause severe hormonal imbalances in the body that not only may cause the common symptoms of headaches, migraines, itchy skin, skin eruptions, etc., but also may contribute greatly in the increased rate of the aging process. Avoid all yeast products (bread, crackers, pretzels, pastry goods, etc.). Even when these products are cooked, the yeast they contain stimulates the Candida albicans growth which in turn contributes to its increased levels in the body.
